Plot
A free-spirited cowboy in modern America plans to get himself arrested so that he can bust his friend out of jail.
Review
Lonely Are the Brave is a slow-paced film that successfully symbolises the crushing introduction of the modern Western world with it's wasteful, overpowering, mechanised existence to the idealised ways of the Old West. Kirk Douglas' understated performance and David Miller's cool direction keeps the story from spiralling into a full-on action movie with iconic moments of triumph and tragedy played out with sensitivity. The story may unfold a little too slow for the modern viewer, which kind of makes its point, but the A-list group of actors is a joy to watch.
